Hanna Smyles (She/Her) is a PhD student at the University of South Carolina studying Clinical-Community Psychology. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020 with minors in Studio Art and Japanese. Hanna hails from the Greater Philadelphia area and is currently based out of Columbia, SC. 

My work focuses on understanding and reducing mental health inequities among marginalized populations by examining how intersecting identities, belonging, and structural context shape psychological and physical health outcomes. Integrating clinical training in community-based settings with community-engaged and arts-based research methodologies, my work emphasizes culturally responsive intervention development and evaluation. Across quantitative and qualitative approaches, I aim to translate psychological science into accessible practices that promote resilience, improve health-related quality of life, and reduce barriers to care.
